Who amongst us didn?t feel fear before dental treatment being a child? That is completely normal but what if this anxiety didn?t elapse? Is your heart still beating faster and palms are sweating before sitting on a dentist?s chair? You are not alone ! Fear of the dentist is incredibly common ? surveys estimate that it affects 13% to 24% of people around the world. Some studies inform that up to 75% of people surveyed have at least a little fear about dental visits!
Reasons are varied ? previous traumatic experience in the childhood, feeling extreme discomfort during the examination or fear of the unknown caused by the lack of knowledge about the dental treatment. It is a vicious circle, people are so terrified at the thought of going to the dentist that they avoid the experience which result in bad oral health and makes dentist?s appointments more difficult.
