Hernia is repaired from the inside of the abdomen. Synthetic mesh is used for repair the defect. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, local anesthetic or spinal.

    How should I prepare myself for hernia surgery?

    Before the surgery blood tests, physical examination, chest X-ray and EKG are performed, depending on the condition of the patient. We recommend showering one day before the surgery. If you suffer from constipation, any medicines may be used before surgery, after consultation with the surgeon. After midnight the night before the surgery you mustn’t drink or eat. If you take medications let your surgeon know about it on the first consultation and always inform you doctor if you have taken any medicines on the day of the surgery. Drugs such as aspirin, vitamin E, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medicines blood thinners should not be taken several days / a week before the planned surgery. Quit smoking before the surgery.
