People’s Square is located in the Old Town of the city, posing its main square, called by the locals Narodni Trg. Here you can admire unique architecture. It is also a best known place where the locals meet with their friends. Don’t forget to visit the fish market called Ribarnica, also quite popular here.
The Peristyle is a best known part of Diocletian’s Palace. This cherished and admired courtyard functioned as the ceremonial entrance of the palace apartments. You will find here also the Cathedral of St. Domnius Belfry. The place is most known for its unigue structure, for instance granite columns, arches, balconies and beautiful steps,on which you can meet resting tourists.
If you want to have a look at the city panorama you should visit westerly Marjan Hill. Marjan is 180 metres high. You can meet here a number of walkers and cyclists walking those wonderful cliffs. On the East and South sides you will find wonderful churches,for instance St. Nicholas Church. There is also Mediterranean pine forest offering also beaches, jogging trails and the Split Science Museum and Zoo.
The Central Market is located just outside the Diocletian’s Palace, next to the Poljana Kneza Trpimira. You can reach the destination by buses departing from the airport. This bustling market is organized every day no matter the weather. You can meet with the locals here and get to know fantastic people. In the market you can do every kind of shopping including fruit and vegetables, to clothing, shoes, bags, flowers, souvenirs and more.
